Description
Colocasia is a genus of plants in the pictorial family (Araceae), whose characteristic inflorescence is a flask. They are native to tropical and subtropical regions of Asia and number, as many as 16 species. Due to the impressive size of the adult plant, the common name is - elephant ears.
Colocasia Pharaoh's Mask is an unusual variety until recently very difficult to find.
Young plants are inconspicuous, but as they grow, their distinctive features become apparent - convex purple veins appear on the leaves, strongly contrasting with the intense green of the foliage.
In the adult form, the edges of the leaf blade curl downward, making the three-dimensionality of the leaf even more apparent.
Pharaoh's Mask stems are the same color as the veins on the leaf blades. They grow in dense clumps.
